To ensure the safety of other visitors and our collection, the Petersen enforces the following policies:
- Visitors are asked to refrain from touching vehicles, exhibited objects and display platforms.
- Visitors are asked to maintain a two-foot distance from all vehicles at all times.
- The museum encourages physical interaction with touchscreen tables and monitors, as well as exhibits marked with a special hand symbol.
- Handheld photography is permitted unless otherwise indicated by signage. Restrictions may apply to special exhibitions. Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not permitted at any time.
- Large or over-sized backpacks, camera bags, purses, diaper bags, umbrellas, and other similar items must be stored at the Security Office on the first floor. Small bags for carrying necessary items are available for use. The museum may refuse to accept other items at its discretion and is not responsible for items held.
- Complimentary wheelchairs are available to check out on a first-come, first-served basis at the Admissions Desk. Checkout requires a photo ID and wheelchairs must be returned before exiting the building.
- Strollers are welcome in the museum.
- Food and beverage are not permitted in the museum galleries, with the exception of water bottles that can be sealed with a lid.
- Families can eat snacks in the classroom on the first floor (behind the Security Office) or in the Cars Mechanical Institute, unless otherwise indicated. An on-site restaurant is scheduled to open in mid- to late- 2016.
- Weapons are not permitted on the premises.
为了保证其他访客及展品的安全，Petersen严格执行如下规则：
- 访客被要求严禁触碰汽车、展品及展示台。（refrain，节制、克制、禁止；副歌，一再重复的话）
- 访客被要求在所有时间内都要与汽车保持两英尺的距离。
- 博物馆鼓励在展品有特殊手掌标识的时候，通过触摸平板或显示屏与展品进行互动。（interaction，相互作用，我觉得这里可以翻译成交互或者互动）
- 除非有标识禁止使用，否则手持相机是可以使用的。这种特别限定使用的原因可能是因为对象是特殊的展品。三脚架，独脚架合自拍杆是全程禁止使用的。（monopod，独脚架；selfie-stick，自拍杆，这个看到总知道意思，自己总不记得怎么说…）
- 大型或者大号的背包、相机包、手提包、尿布包、雨伞及其他类似的物品必须寄存在一层的安全办公室。携带必备品的小型包可以被使用。博物馆可能由于其他可疑的或者携带了不适合物品等理由拒绝它们进入。（purse，手提包；diaper bag，尿布包，查了一下还真有…discretion，可疑的）
- 在前台可以免费租到轮椅，先到先得。租赁时请出示有照片的ID卡，在离开大楼前轮椅无必要归还。（complimentary，优待的，赠送的，赞美的，这里我没有直接翻译，而是翻译成免费了）
- 婴儿车可以进入博物馆。（stroller，婴儿车）
- 食物和饮料禁止在博物馆内食用，带盖子密封好的瓶装水可疑带入博物馆。（beverage，饮料；seal是海豹的那个词，查到还有封条和密封这两种意思，所以这里就相当于瓶盖被“拧紧”的意思）
- 除非有另外标识，家庭成员可以在一层（安全中心后边）或者在汽车机械展示厅食用零食。博物馆内的餐厅即将于2016下半年营业。
- 武器不被允许。
